„Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) dibināta 1999. gada oktobrī. LVM pamatdarbība ir mežsaimniecība, kas ir uzņēmuma galvenais ieņēmumu avots. Līdztekus mežsaimniecībai LVM sniedz medību un rekreācijas pakalpojumus, ražo selekcionētas sēklas un stādus, piedāvā tirgū zemes dzīļu resursus: smilti, granti, kūdru. LVM pārvalda un apsaimnieko 1,62 miljonus hektāru Latvijas Republikas zemes, tai skaitā 1,60 miljonus hektāru meža zemes, no kurām 1,39 miljoni hektāru ir mežs. LVM realizē valsts intereses meža apsaimniekošanā, nodrošinot meža vērtību saglabāšanu, palielināšanu un gūstot maksimāli iespējamos ienākumus īpašniekam – valstij.
